If you need to discuss corner working, ask general questions, or make a comment, this is the place for you!

BTW - If Your question doesn't have to do with corner working....please don't waste our collective time. I will just delete it. ;\)

Provisional Novice CW - DO I HAVE TO CORNER WORK BEFORE I CAN RACE?
NO. Your first weekend at the CMRA is your FREE weekend to CHOOSE what you do. If you want to race...race. If you want to work both of your days... work. If you want to work one day and race the other...that is your choice as well!

If only possible to work a Saturday that first weekend, OHR, is it possible to race at a future event before having worked a Sunday. I would like to work Sat at OHR in Feb. I have to miss the March event for work. Would like to race at TWS in April do corner work at Hallet in May on Friday to satisfy Sunday commitment day. Wondering of possible.

Bill

Yes. Generally, I am not looking for you the race after the race you work. Basically, a PN could get a license and race that weekend, work one day the next race and race, race only at the following race, and then finish up their commitment by the fourth race. Just stay on top of where you are and finish up as soon as you can.

Hey Barry, What is the minimum age (minor) cut off to corner work? In the past it has been 16 yrs. Does this still stand to be the same for this year?
Thanks,
Tim.

Where PN CW Requirements are concerned, if the new racer is under 16 years of age, they are not required to work. They may if they choose, and I advise one day.
The cutoff for everyone else is 16 years as well, but I do make exceptions based on maturity. Under 18 years always works with an adult.

Do Pro-nov's have to work two weekends Sat and Sun, for a total of 4 days, or is it two days?

Prov Nov requirements are two days of corner working (one Saturday and one Sunday) and two race weekends without crashing (minimum of two races per weekend).

Barry, My wife will be corner working with me Saturday the 14th, do we both need to fill out a Staff Application Form?

Cornerworkers do not fill out staff forms. Those are for full time CMRA Staff.

What is protocol if it rains?

Bring rain gear. We race rain or shine

Is taking photos considered inattention while cornerworking? What is the policy on iPods and other potentially distractive devices?

Generally, you can snap photos, just so long as you remember why you are there. No headphones because you need to hear the radio.

I would like to work the corners Saturday and race Sunday. Can I make arrangements to do so? I will be a provisional novice, provided I pass the class on Friday. Suggestions are appreciated.

Joe

That is fine, but this would be better posted in the Sign up thread.

Hello, I am interested in helping out as a paid corner worker at TWS on the weekend of 4-10/11. Are there any spots left, and if so, how do I register?

Thanks,
Kevin

Look for the TWS event in this area that you want to work. Sign up opens about 3 weeks before and event.

Hi fellas, I have a quick question. Is there any way of trading a day of cornerworking for a day of practice? I'm in quite the pinch and would really like to at least practice at the next race weekend. I guess my question directly is could a day of cornerworking saturday or sunday credit my day of friday practice? Thanks in advance!

-Spencer Smith-
-CMRA #160-

No, not by the CMRA at the next round. We do not run the Friday, however, LSTD does sometimes trade CW'ing for Practice. I suggest you contact them.

I had signed up For the TWS on 4/10 and was just wondering if I was to recieve an e-mail from you or what the next step might be? just making sure I'm not missing a step and i'm actually signed in, My e-mail address is rob600rr17@yahoo.com and my name is Rob.

Signing up in the open Race Thread is all you have to do. When you send an email and no one answers, you wonder if they got it. When you post your request and see it, you know it is posted. I usually answer requests a week or so before the event. Thanks!

Rob, Barry will answer your request for cornerworking in your original post in the TWS April thread. Please read his very first post in that thread. It explains how you are confirmed for cornerworking.

He also needs to know your first and last name in order to get your name on the gate list. Please read all threads regarding cornerworking. You'll find most of your questions answered there.

Hey Bary I was listed as not cleared to race sunday, but I worked the sunday on the first race at TWS corner 5. I am even signed off by you. Can you check for me and clear me through Nancy?

PN's Read This, because it is important. If you have worked, but only finished 1 or your 2 required days and more than 1 race has passed since we have talked, you will be blocked from entering races until I hear from you and we schedule your second day. This is the only way I have of getting your attention and per the requirements of getting a license you have a limited amount of time to complete this process. Even though you may have a plan, until you convey it to me I can only guess where you are in the process. Thanks for a good question.
